As my i-pod lies bleeding in my arms....

Dearest Aaron Shust,

I am just writing to let you know that I have purchased and enjoyed your album ‘Whispered and Shouted’.
However it appears to have killed my i-pod.

I purchased my i-pod from apples refurb store a few years ago and have filled it with many genres of music and podcasts. I like to think that the refurb store is like the dog kennels where all the unwanted i-pods go after they have been fixed up to rehome. So i called my i-pod a rescue i-pod.
Rescue i-pod did a great job. When it did the shuffle (which i alway, always, always use because i find it hard to choose what to listen to) curiously it prefered some music more than others. It never, NEVER played ‘Christian’ music when on shuffle. I have some good stuff on there, your cd, some Downhere, some Paramore, Jason Morant, Third Day, but rescue i-pod prefered to play my more worldly records, mostly King of Leon and Don Henly. {Strange, but true}.
Sometimes I wonder if at one time my rescue i-pod had once been owned by an i-geek charasmatic Christian who played some Hillsong or Gaither stuff on constant loop and put my rescue i-pod off Christian music for life.

Anyway, last week rescue i-pod began to behave badly. I’ll admit i was forcing it to play Garth Brookes greatest hits (hey, everyone has a guilty pleasure, don’t judge me) when it just stopped. Dead, no sound, no movement.
Later that night I lifted it again and tried to push some buttons to revive it and low and behold it started playing your album, CONSTANTLY!
It play it through again and again and agian. No matter what i-geek tricks i tried, or how many buttons i pressed it would just play your album on repeat all day and all night long. Rescue i-pod sems to have fallen in love with you. I don’t know what triggered it, although the last song it played before you was ‘Unanswered Prayers’ by Brooks and this may have just tipped it over the edge.

So for hours it happily played your album and then as suddenly as it began rescue i-pod just stopped. Ironically during ‘Life itself’. Ceased to play, ceased to operate.
I don’t know what happened but you seem to have killed rescue i-pod. At least he died happily to go to the big refurb shop in the sky (with i-pod god…..i-god?). At least he went down in a blaze of glory.

I just wanted to let you know.
Thanks for your music, even though its cost me the price of a new i-pod.
